PRIDE HOUSTON® 365

A Celebration of Love and Diversity!

We Strive to be a Representative Body of the Community

Our Mission Is to Bring Equality

Welcome to Pride Houston, the heart of our vibrant and diverse LGBTQ+ community in the city. We stand as a beacon of hope, resilience, and celebration, committed to our mission and dedicated to addressing challenges with strength, grace, and unwavering leadership.

Pride Houston’s origins trace back to a bold act of visibility and community organizing in 1978 — the historic Town Meeting I held on June 25 at the Astro Arena. Bringing together over 4,000 members of Houston’s LGBTQ+ community, the meeting marked one of the first large-scale political gatherings of its kind in the country. The following year, in 1979, Pride Houston was officially founded by Black activist Larry Bagneris Jr., co-president of the Houston Gay Political Caucus, who led the city’s first formal Pride Parade through Montrose. What began as a grassroots movement has since grown into one of the largest Pride celebrations in Texas. With a legacy rooted in resistance, joy, and unapologetic visibility, Pride Houston continues to honor its history while shaping the future of queer celebration and advocacy.
