The history of Cinco de Mayo is steeped in victory, and will be no less triumphant for the winners of this year’s Pride Houston grand marshal vote.
The city’s original LGBTQ+ Pride celebration will reveal this year’s honorees at a party commemorating Cinco de Mayo on Sunday, May 5.
Festivities will kick off at 1 p.m. at Axelrad, with the big announcement at 3:30 p.m.

Hundreds of thousands of people descended on downtown Houston this past Saturday for the 44th annual Pride Houston 365 festival and parade, the third-largest Pride celebration in the United States. Pride Houston, which has been happening officially every year since 1979, was extra poignant this year considering its two-year absence as the city grappled with the COVID-19 pandemic.
Despite a two year absence, Houston’s pride celebration stayed true to its theme; The beat goes on. The third biggest pride festivity in the country making its way through downtown Houston. With plenty of security and lines that stretched around the block.
Houston festival-goers can purchase general admission tickets for $3.00, and Celebration VIP | Festival & Parade tickets for $200.00. The festival hours will run from 1 pm-6:30 pm and the parade hours will last from 7 pm-9:30 pm.
